What did you bring that was never meant to be optimised?

Show me one object you brought to Network School that you would hate to lose—something whose value doesn’t survive being measured.

01

A participatory archive and painting project by Patricia de Llano, made at Network School in Forest City, Malaysia.

The premise

We measure objects by what they do, what they cost, and how easily they can be replaced.

But some things carry a value that resists that logic. Their meaning cannot be priced, upgraded or transferred to an identical copy.

Proof of Human collects these objects and their stories. The archive records what can be documented. The paintings attempt to reveal what the object carries that a photograph cannot show.

Your contribution

Take your time.

There is no perfect answer. Not your phone or laptop. Think of something whose material value is smaller than what it carries.

Could you find or buy another one like it?Think only about the physical object—not its story.
Would another one feel like the same object?Could a replacement carry the same meaning?
